Transgender Day Of Remembrance

Each year on November 20th we join the world in celebrating the Transgender Day of Remembrance, created in direct response to the violent murder of Rita Hester in 1998.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance serves several purposes. It raises public awareness of hate crimes against transgender people, an action that today’s media doesn’t perform. Transgender Day of Remembrance publicly mourns and honors the lives of our siblings who might otherwise be forgotten and reminds everyone our of responsibility to pro-actively support the entire trans community.
